Best Wedding Moments of 2013

Wedding

I like big blogs and I cannot lie! So hard to narrow this one down, but here we go…

I always enjoy shooting the various details of a wedding. It often blows me away to see the amount of time and energy that went into some of the smallest little touches. And I get crazy excited to take fun portraits of the bride and groom. That’s where I get to go wild with ideas, composition, lighting, and horrible jokes. But capturing genuine, unposed moments is the driving force that keeps me shooting weddings. A quick glance between newlyweds, the little kids busting moves on the dance floor, Grandpa’s face when he sees his granddaughter truly grown up…for me, it doesn’t get any better than that. These are the true detail shots. These are the most telling portraits. The challenge of keeping an eye on every aspect of the day…keeping my finger on the shutter…anticipating the reactions before they happen….it’s more of a thrill than I had ever imagined. I’m so extremely humbled by the opportunity (and responsibility) to document the moments that are so often missed or forgotten. These are the moments that when revisited tell the true story of a wedding day.

So, instead of showing you my best work of 2013, I’ve put together my favorite moments. Some of the shots aren’t perfectly lit or composed, some are downright ridiculous, but each one is an authentic and unposed frame that hopefully resonates not only with the couples, friends, and family, but with anyone who sees a glimpse of their own wedding, their own relationship, their own crazy friends, or even their dog (there’s one in there!). Twenty thirteen has been an incredible year for me, and I’m so excited to show you a few moments from every wedding I shot this year. So, here they are in no particular order…enjoy!

(Huge thanks to my second shooters who contributed so much throughout the year! Kate Cahail Photography, Gena Appleby Photography, Jill Tiongco Photography, and Memorable Jaunts.)

First wedding of the year, and no doubt it was the best dance-off I’d see! 2013-12-20_0163 2013-12-20_01612013-12-20_0002 2013-12-20_0092 2013-12-20_0004 2013-12-20_0007 Dave got iced!2013-12-20_0038 2013-12-20_0016 “You give makeup lessons?!”2013-12-20_0141 2013-12-20_0017 2013-12-20_0086 2013-12-20_0019 2013-12-20_0021 2013-12-20_0157 2013-12-20_0022 2013-12-20_0063 2013-12-20_0013 2013-12-20_0023 2013-12-20_0024 2013-12-20_0025

LAUREN & NICK | WAYNE, IL WEDDING

Wedding

Dang…I had such a hard time narrowing down images for this blog post. I loved every second of this wedding. From the awesome location for portraits to the ceremony under a giant tree, Lauren and Nick’s wedding was unparalleled! I mean there were even horses. And check them out bar tending during cocktail hour! Enjoy!
